Radiation protection – the ALARA principle

 We only take X-rays when there are clear criteria and indications, because radiation carries a risk of stochastic effects even at low doses. For children in particular, the absorbed and effective dose must be kept as low as possible. This is the ALARA principle: “As Low As Reasonably Achievable”. To follow it we use:
